As an artist I am open to all aspects of creativity and find it hard to pigeonhole myself at what I do. Having worked in ceramics and studied textile design my main passion comes from printing and surface pattern.
I would say that pattern and colour form the nucleus to all of my work.
I am heavy influenced by the fauvist’s use of colour, so when working I usually embrace juxtaposing and jarring colours, but in some of my other works I have rejected it.
Through out my workings the subject matter is in a constant flux but play with colour and contrast is always prevalent. I would say that my work has a certain amount of alchemy and is all about processes and layers.
My work often represents my psyche and the subject matter often best describes the place I inhabit at the time.
In the past I have been hugely inspired corvidae, eastern religion, chintz and snowflakes. My current work has been inspired by my love affair with Jersey and is currently working around the Jersey Lilly and Lillie Langtry.
Techniques I use are all forms of printing from relief, block and mono to printing with silk screens and stencils. I use Inks, dyes, foils, acrylics, and pencil and have a penchant for glitter.
Currently I do not have a studio space but am working on a commission for percentage for art and towards my next exhibition, which I hope to have in the autumn of this year.
